Rapid prototyping is an industry practice that enables developers and UX designers to quickly 'mock-up' a basic, early version of their app to show to users.
Lucidchart is an online collaborative diagramming software which can be used to create rapid prototypes.
Reasons to use Lucidchart:
- It runs in a browser and does not need anything downloading onto the network
- They offer free group accounts for educational establishments
- Note: students will need an email account
Getting started with Lucidchart:
Step 1: create a free Lucidchart account for your group
Step 2: upgrade your account to a free Lucidchart Educational Account (see details below)
How to create a Lucidchart Educational Account for your group:
Step 1: create a free Lucidchart account using your school email address. (Note: if your email address ends in .ac or .edu it will upgrade automatically.)
Step 2: if your account does not automatically upgrade to an educational account, go here and request an upgrade using the form. Approval takes 24 to 48 hours.
Step 3: log-in and set up your student accounts. You can either copy and paste student email addresses (separated by commas) so that they can create their own passwords, or upload a csv file with the format: first name, surname, email, password.
